Telemetry Infrastructure

There are two systems, GÖZCÜ and Mobile Telemetry System (MTS).

Within the scope of flight and firing tests, telemetry infrastructure is used extensively for real-time data analysis and data collection from firing ammunition. The tests are carried out by communicating with the launcher aircraft via the radios in the infrastructure. The main tests in which the telemetry system is used are listed below:

  • Firing tests (telemetry and flight termination system)
  • Safe jettison tests
  • Captive transportation tests with real-time data analysis requirements
    • Flutter test
    • Algorithm verification test
    • Function verification captive transportation tests

Mobile Telemetry System

  • MTS 1 is 6×2 meters in size. MTS 1 consists of a receiver unit, radio, flight termination system ground station, data analysis and display system and UPS room.
  • MTS 2 is a flight/test monitoring cabin. It is designed for monitoring tests. There are 4 plasma televisions, printer, telephone, work desk and wireless internet.
  • The receiving dish is 2.4 meters. Maximum operating distance is 250 km. It has automatic signal tracking feature. Operating range is 2150-2450 Mhz.
  • Generator (65 Kva, 3 phase, 52 kW)

Watchdog System

The system consists of GÖZCÜ 1 and GÖZCÜ 2 units.

Lookout 1;

  • 5 monitors and image management system,
  • Intercom system,
  • Flight termination system,
  • 2 receivers,
  • 2 IF Recorders,
  • 2 radios (VHF/UHF),
  • It consists of a data analysis and visualization system.

Lookout 2;

  • 8 test monitoring stations,
  • Intercom system,
  • VIP Test monitoring room,
  • It consists of a kitchen.

The following services are provided within the scope of infrastructure:

  • Conducting flight tests of measured ammunition in accordance with infrastructure specifications,
  • As long as LOS (line of sight) can be ensured in flight tests, data can be obtained up to 450 km,
  • RF and location autotracking capability of S band antennas,
  • The data received can be interpreted in real time and transmitted to Watchman 1, Watchman 2 and VIP sections with the desired screen structure and at the same time, communication can be provided between these 3 sections with the intercom system,
  • Audio and video recording in the test cabinets during the test,
  • Thanks to the power container (150 kVA generator and 80 kVA ups) in the system, it can be used without the need for external energy,
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of the data received.

In addition to telemetry systems, installation, use and maintenance services are provided for the ATDM's meters (Radar, Electro-optical systems, MSP, etc.). ATDM meters can be synchronized with TÜBİTAK SAGE telemetry systems to increase their tracking capabilities.

Ammunition Test Equipment Measurement Infrastructure

The Ammunition Test Equipment Measurement Infrastructure was established at the SAGE Lalahan campus in 2016.

The following services are provided within the scope of infrastructure:

  • Design of test, measurement and flight termination system architectures according to the relevant munition/missile,
  • Identification of ammunition test equipment and procurement and acceptance testing of the equipment,
  • Integration of equipment into ammunition,
  • Integration of telemetry equipment,
  • Integration of the flight termination system,
  • Design and integration of metering cabling,
  • Selection, procurement and testing of the meters required within the scope of the project,
  • Integration of the gauges planned to be used in the test item into the test item.

Satellite Communication and Test Monitoring Infrastructure

It was established in 2016 in order to transfer the data obtained in the field during the tests to the SAGE campus in real time via satellite and to monitor the test. The data can be monitored by the personnel who will examine the data in the same way as the telemetry infrastructure, and the decisions taken are transferred by communicating with the test site.

The following services are provided within the scope of infrastructure:

  • Tracking the relevant test data from the infrastructure without the need to go to the test site,
  • Storage of test data to a ground station in the infrastructure, resulting in rapid evaluation of the data,
  • Telephone communication with the field via satellite.

Infrastructure Features:

  • 3.8 meter diameter VSAT Ku Band Antenna

Conditions are encountered where the activities carried out at test sites cannot be completed within the planned timeframes. Due to meteorological obstacles, platform and test item-related problems, tests are frequently postponed. As a result of postponements, test data is transferred to the SAGE Lalahan Campus via satellite in order to prevent labor and time losses of the personnel in the test area. Technical personnel participating in the test can arrive at the infrastructure shortly before the test, participate in the test and continue their own work after the test. During the test, authorized and decision-making personnel are also present at the test site in order to prevent risks related to satellite connectivity. In addition to test management, high-level participants and guests are allowed to follow the test.
